VOLUNTEERING WITH PANDA
Peer Support Volunteers - volunteers with a lived experience of perinatal anxiety and/or depression period delivering support on PANDA’s National Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Helpline.
Community Education Volunteers - volunteers with a lived experience of perinatal anxiety and/or depression period sharing their story and/or delivering education sessions to community groups including new-parent groups, support groups, playgroups and health professional training courses.
Community Champions - volunteers with a lived experience of perinatal anxiety and/or depression period passionate about raising awareness of perinatal mental health and PANDA's work.
Clinical Champions – health professionals passionate about raising awareness of perinatal mental health and PANDA's work.

Senior Practitioner – Clinical (Fixed term - 12 months)
- Work from home, anywhere in Australia
- 12 month fixed term contract (Parental leave cover)

About the role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Senior Practitioner – Clinical to support the Digital Services Manager in providing clinical leadership and oversight of our multidisciplinary team. This includes Helpline Clinical Practitioners, Peer Practitioners, and Volunteers delivering vital perinatal mental health care.
In this role, you’ll:
- Provide supervision, mentoring, and leadership to a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, person-centred support.
- Lead on quality improvement, compliance, clinical decision-making, and manage referral pathways across Helpline programs.
- Contribute to staff training and development through observation, modelling, co-facilitation, and formal sessions.
- Provide care coordination and case management for a defined caseload of complex, high-risk service users, delivering evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions that support recovery and continuity of care.
- Drive collaborative relationships with external services to ensure seamless transitions and referrals for our community.
What we’re looking for
Essential:
- Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing, or another allied health field.
- Membership or eligibility for membership to a relevant professional body (AASW, AHPRA, APS, PACFA).
- Significant experience overseeing mental health and risk assessments, and providing crisis interventions that translate to timely, goal-focused outcomes.
- Strong leadership skills to guide and mentor multidisciplinary teams.
- Effective communication skills for building rapport with service users, families, and stakeholders.
- Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities for managing complex cases.
- Deep understanding of legislation, policies, and best practices in mental health care.
- Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and alignment with PANDA’s values.
Desirable:
- Experience or proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g. Agile) with the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities.
- Digitally confident and willing to learn new systems.

We’re looking for a compassionate Peer Practitioners to join our multidisciplinary team. Drawing on your own lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges, you’ll provide phone-based peer support that helps parents and families feel truly heard, understood, and less alone.
In this role, you’ll:
- Offer phone-based peer support, sharing hope and connection through your lived experience.
- Provide intake, triage, psychoeducation, and help connect families with resources.
- Maintain accurate client records and contribute to data collection.
- Collaborate closely with clinicians, counsellors, and volunteers to ensure holistic support.
- Participate in training, resource development, and professional growth activities.
What we’re looking for
Essential:
- Personal lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges, with insight into your journey and recovery.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and a commitment to person-centred, culturally safe support.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Comfort with admin tasks and using data systems (and MS Office).
- Passion for supporting diverse parents and families through their mental health journey.
Desirable:
- Experience providing peer support in a mental health or community setting (formal or informal).
- Knowledge of perinatal mental health, intake, or triage processes.
- Interest in education or contributing to mental health resources.

PANDA Position Description - Peer Practitioner
Clinical Practitioner
- Multiple positions available, full-time and part-time hours available
- Minimum FTE requirement 22.8 hours a week (0.6 FTE)

About the role
We’re looking for a compassionate Clinical Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team. You’ll provide phone-based clinical and counselling support to parents and families, helping them feel heard, understood, and supported.
In this role, you’ll:
- Deliver phone-based counselling, risk assessments, and care coordination.
- Provide intake, triage, psychoeducation, and connect families with resources.
- Maintain accurate client records and contribute to data collection.
- Collaborate with peers, clinicians, and volunteers to continuously improve our services.
- Participate in training, resource development, and professional growth activities.
What we’re looking for
Essential:
- A tertiary qualification in mental health or counselling, plus eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body.
- At least 2 years’ experience in mental health or counselling.
- Strong skills in person-centred care, clinical decision-making, teamwork, and communication.
- Comfort with admin tasks and using data systems (and MS Office).
- A genuine commitment to supporting diverse parents and families through their mental health journey.
Desirable:
- Experience in phone-based or virtual mental health services.
- Knowledge of perinatal mental health, intake, or triage.
- Interest in education or creating mental health resources.
