Help PANDA support new parents this End of Financial Year

Recently we heard from Erin*, this is her story…

'I phoned PANDA when Aisha* was 8 weeks old. I hadn’t slept in 4 days, was feeling overwhelmed and out of control. Aisha had been unsettled for a week and in a moment of frustration I had snapped, yelling at her, and ‘throwing her into the cot. I was horrified and scared. I rang PANDA in distress. They listened. I can’t remember in detail what they said but I know I told them everything. The sleeplessness, the anger and irritability, the moments of frustration and the scary thoughts that David and Aisha would be better off without me. They talked to me about my safety and Aisha’s safety. Together we decided I needed additional supports and specialist help to address my mental health.
They rang David and he came home to care for Aisha. It wasn’t easy asking for help but it was a lot more difficult living in fear and suffering in silence.

I now have a team of people who support me and I don’t feel like such a failure as a mum. We still have bad days, perinatal anxiety and depression can make parenting hard. But David* and I are doing this together and we are stronger for the experience and getting better every day.’

Every day, your support makes stories like Erin’s possible.

Today we’re launching our 2016 End of Financial Year campaign. Our goal is to help more new families – mums, dads and babies find a way to get their life back on track. You see, even though we helped Erin, there are still thousands of women who suffer in silence. Awareness is needed. That’s why our goal is to raise $50,000 by June 30. We really need your help to make this happen.

Would you be willing to make a special End of Financial Year donation of $50, $100 or whatever you can afford to help us meet our goal to help more new mums and their families suffering from perinatal anxiety and depression?

Your support will make a lasting impact in the lives of women just like Erin and babies like Aisha.
