PANDA established the Professional Advisory Panel in 2010. It provides PANDA with a well-developed network of professionals with specific expertise, to support, enable and facilitate PANDA’s operations. For more information contact PANDA.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Vision for the Panel:
PANDA has a well-developed network of professionals with specific expertise, which supports, enables and facilitates PANDA’s operations.
Objectives:
- To assist PANDA to “fine tune” its niche services and build networks which support these service roles.
- To facilitate PANDA’s relationships and a referral pathways with/to mental health care providers.
- To support PANDA’s ongoing relationship with the Departments of Health and of Human Services and other funding bodies.
- To support PANDA in the establishment and implementation of risk management strategies for case managing high-risk clients.
- To facilitate PANDA’s links with formal research organizations and to develop strategies and opportunities to research PND consumer issues and the effectiveness of peer-to-peer support.
Roles and responsibilities:
- To be willing to provide time and information in response to relevant requests from PANDA’s CEO/ Committee of Management.
- To provide introductions or supported referrals for PANDA to relevant organizations, systems and networks.
- Where/when possible, to provide letters of support for relevant submissions.
Time commitment:
- It is anticipated that people will not be asked to meet together more than once per year, probably at a social occasion with a meeting
- It is expected that the PANDA CEO, senior staff member or COM member will be those responsible for contact with the members of the Professional Advisory Panel – on a limited number of times each year
Deliverables:
- Panelists are willing to discuss, and address or advise on an issue with the Committee of Management/ CEO up to four times per year
- Formal relationships are established between PANDA and a number of relevant organizations and bodies.
Panel members:
- Two mental health professionals one each from the private and public sector working in an existing mental health service ideally with management responsibilities.
- A senior maternal and child health nurse with management responsibilities in the provision of mental health care.
- An individual with current or previous expertise in the administration or allocation of state and all Federal government funding.
- A general practitioner with direct links to the Royal Australian College of General practitioners and involved in the delivery of mental health care by General Practitioners.
- An Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with direct links to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists with an interest in the mental health care of women.
- Two career health researchers working within a university or mainstream research organization ideally in a senior position or management role.
