The Postnatal Depression Group Facilitator's Network

The Network was established by PANDA in May 2003 to bring together health professional and self help facilitators who run a broad range of Postnatal Depression support and therapeutic groups. PANDA believes group work is a valuable treatment approach for women experiencing Postnatal Depression as it provides opportunities for sharing experiences with other women and learning strategies for managing their PND.

The objectives of the Network are:

  • To provide a forum for sharing what facilitators find works and explaining why, including lessons they have learnt.
  • To encourage the promotion of group work as a valuable and viable treatment model for both consumers and health practitioners.
  • To promote more referrals by other health professionals and community members to PND groups.
  • To use the facilitators' collective experience to develop methods for the sustainability of existing PND groups and to promote the establishment of new groups.
  • To organise professional development for PND group facilitators, including guest speakers and experiential sessions.

The Network meets every 2 months from 10.00am - 12.00pm, at PANDA. A light lunch is provided. Enquiries to PANDA for attendance at the meetings.
